Almost exactly a year prior to their wedding day, Becca and Kathleen invited me to their city of Detroit for an engagement session on Belle Isle. From that day, after connecting with these two over dinner and their session, I was even more eager for their wedding the following August at The Blue Dress Barn in Benton Harbor, MI.
When I arrived at The Blue Dress Barn, I was in awe of the style, decor, and overall feeling of the venue. Rich and colorful with foliage, with a warm and inviting barn with a white exterior, silos anchoring the ceremony, and the adorable getting ready spaces. It quickly became a favorite venue.
Becca got ready first with her crew in the camper van, while Kathleen and her party prepped in the cute wedding studio. Becca’s custom made Bindle & Keep suit was a stunner (fun fact: her parents went with her on the trip to get fitted, and they came home with custom suits for the wedding, too)!
Becca and Kathleen were so happy and affectionate during portraits as we ventured around the grounds. Their fun and silly sides came out after wedding party photos, giving us all a laugh as Becca hid under Kathleen’s dress.
After an initiate Ketubah signing, Becca and Kathleen wed during a sun filled ceremony on the lawn. Then, they broke the glass and were announced married!
After family photos, during the golden evening light, Becca and Kathleen shared a few additional moments alone. They were finally married, relaxed, and so happy, which allowed us to create my favorite images from their day.
With their rad wedding party and adoring guests, it was no surprise that their reception included a beautiful first dance, heartfelt toasts, and sweet parent dances. And with a fantastic band bringing the tunes, the newlyweds and their guests celebrated all night long.
