I believe universal energies are always at work — sometimes in more obvious ways than others. Let me explain. I first met Cidney’s vibrant mom, Kim, who owns a fabulous custom draping company, Fitz the Occasion. This may not seem too surprising — except it occurred when I was helping Queen City Vignette with a wedding setup and styling during my off season. Kim and I began chatting when she mentioned her daughter was engaged and looking for a photographer. Soon after, a lovely coffee date was scheduled, and Cidney and Brian were on my books! Right place, right time — truly wonderful.
Their fall wedding day arrived and I was joyfully met with excitement from Cidney, Kim, and the wedding party. Cidney’s mom and sister helped her get ready while we all “oooh-ed and awe-d” over Cidney’s pink sparkly jacket. After Brian put on his finishing touches, the couple shared in a sweet first sight before an emotional father daughter first look.
Then we were off to The Taft Museum of Art for portraits and the day’s celebrations. The colorful outfits and florals shined against the gorgeous light and foliage in the courtyard. Speaking of — I must compliment Marti Heard for her absolutely spectacular work on the flowers for the day’s events. (Ahem, monstera and palm leaf reception chandeliers, anyone?)
Cidney and Brian enjoyed a family-focused moment with their adorable, always-smiling daughter before they ventured through the courtyard for portraits alone. It was an honor to witness their beautiful and special connection up close.
The ceremony beamed with love and Brian could barely read his vows through the tears. The capture when Cidney, her sister, and bridesmaid, were all wiping their tears simultaneously, is one of my favorites ever. After a kiss, Cidney and Brian paraded down the aisle, daughter in arms, as they were announced officially married!
The reception space was a dream; it felt like a magazine. It was the perfect atmosphere for a delightful dinner and toasts that had everyone laughing and crying all over again. With help of the super fun band, The Chuck Taylors, once dancing began, it never stopped!
So much love, glee, beauty, and intention went into this event; I’m certain every heart present that day was left overflowing.
Cheers to the beautiful family!
