There’s something indescribably special about marrying someone you met and dated in high school. The longevity of the relationship, immense growth and change through the early adult years, and a love that wins through it all.
Meet Cory and Tamara. They’re two peas in a pod, if you ask me. When they look at each other, they light up so bright a bystander nearly need to squint. They embody unconditional love, joy, acceptance, openness, and commitment. I was grateful to be invited to document their wedding at Cory’s childhood home.
And so, on a chilly and rainy autumn day, I photographed Tamara and Cory getting ready for the first look, which became a joyful reuniting.
During afternoon portraits, we walked through the yard Cory spent her days in as a child. They laughed and laughed, filled with love and excitement.
Ceremony time arrived, as did guests with umbrellas and throws, staying dry and keeping warm. The day’s nonstop misting wouldn’t hold back the celebration, and soon, the lovebirds were cheering as they became spouses for life.
The thoughtful reception details were a colorful hug for the guests (as was the heated tent). The carefully placed napkins created a subtle rainbow, while pumpkin accents and fall florals were all around. We ended the evening with night portraits: a rare opportunity these two creative souls were eager to partake in.
Cheers to you, lovebirds!
