After Nicole’s mom helped her get ready, we were off to Mt. Airy Forest. Nicole and Jacob’s first look reactions, and portrait time giddiness, were adorable.
As their ceremony neared, down a long drive, nearly hidden, we arrived at Oak Ridge Lodge. With its mid century vibes, and grand tree anchoring the ceremony space, the venue and location felt romantic and warm.
They had a sweet, short ceremony full of laughs and tears. Their reception continued on with dinner, and then dancing on the patio. Nicole and Jacob’s first dance had me smiling ear to ear as they enjoyed a moment focused on one another. I encourage couples, especially introverts, to soak in the first dance, focusing on one another. While the moment isn’t entirely private as guests are onlooking, taking a minute to just look at each other, or close your eyes and take in the feeling, is a beautiful way to savor it.
Nicole and her dad had a wonderfully fun dance, while Jacob’s mom cried during their dance. The love and pride during parent-child dances at weddings always makes me cry. Finally, Nicole danced with her mom, laughing uncontrollably as her mom spun and twirled her over and over again. They share a beautiful bond. Dancing and conversation filled the remainder of the evening.
