Re: COVID-19

On December 31st, enjoying our yearly tradition of sipping wine with a charcuterie while watching the New Year’s Eve countdown, my husband and I discussed what a magical year 2020 was going be…

Welp, 2020 isn’t quite what we’d expected, eh?

Over the last 45 days, I have left my home exactly four times, strictly abiding to the stay-at-home order, prioritizing the safety and well-being of all, while missing connection with dear humans. I’ve felt more turbulent emotionally than usual; some days deeply withdrawing and melancholy, and others full of hope, Zoom calls, Marco Polo-ing with friends. I’m also certain that in addition to “social distancing” and “quarantine,” the word of the year should also include “weird.”

I have been readily working with wedding couples affected by COVID-19 to reschedule their dates, while grieving their postponements. This will continue for as long as necessary, as I firmly believe in and support all decisions keeping your guests and vendors healthy. All couples who reschedule for dates I am available, retainers will apply. Please reach out to communicate and collaborate with your vendors before securing a new date to ensure our availability. I am certain that with a bit of discussion before officially moving your date, we’ll find one that works for us.

I’ve also spent a lot of time thinking about my business: the loss of work, the thankfulness for my incredible past and new clients who’ve purchased pre-sale sessions and gift cards which have directly helped keep us afloat during these times, and how I will re-open safely when we’re able, all while keeping health as absolute top of mind.

As updates became available this week for a soft open of Ohio, services are allowed to resume on May 12th, while the stay-at-home order has been extended until the end of May. And so, as the world begins turn again, I have decided to wait an additional four weeks and will re-consider opening photography sessions on June 9th. I am willing to be extra cautious because I so deeply value and love all of you. As COVID-19 can take up to 14 days to show symptoms, I will be waiting to observe and ensure this re-open does not cause us to move backwards. When June 9th arrives, based on the data and progress of the month, if I feel it is safe to resume bookings and scheduling photo sessions, I will do so. If I do not feel it makes sense to move forward with sessions, I will set a new date to re-evaluate.

Sessions will only be held outdoors for the foreseeable future, and we’ll continuing practicing the best safety standards with social distancing of a minimum six feet, sanitizing, etc., and I will wear a mask. I will also require that all participants have been healthy and asymptomatic for at least 14 days (including me) prior to the session. With any slightest sign of illness, we must reschedule.

In the meantime, for anyone who’d like to purchase a gift card for a future session, I will continue to offer 10% off gift cards until the end of May. I know many of us are affected in various ways, and by extending this offer, I hope we can help each other. If you’d like to purchase a gift card, please follow this link.

I am holding all of you in my heart during this time. Whether you’re breezily spending time at home relaxing, full of anxiety and stress from loss of work and connection, or somewhere in between dying your hair hot pink, you’re not alone.
